Cellulite is dimpled skin that commonly occurs near your thighs. It occurs when fat is stored under your skin. Cellulite is commonly known as curdled skin, orange peel and hail damage. Studies show that this is a problem present in 80-90% of women after puberty. It is not as commonly seen in men due to the different distribution of muscle and fat in their bodies. Cellulite is usually found on your thighs and buttocks, but it can be seen in other areas as well.

What causes cellulite on the thighs?

The thigh area naturally contains more fatty tissue, which allows cellulite to develop more easily. Other factors that cause cellulite in this area (or any area) include:
  • The person’s age
  • Estrogen levels in your body
  • Family history of cellulitis
  • Gaining weight
  • Loss of collagen
  • Thinning of the epidermis
Now here are some home remedies that can help reduce cellulite in the body.

How to get rid (results may vary for every person and its not guarenteed) of cellulite

1. Massage

Massages help relax the body and mind. Massaging areas of the body with cellulite can cause significant skin smoothing. It can also cause cellulite reduction as it facilitates lymphatic drainage.
The type of massage cream used to massage problem areas makes the process more efficient. It is important to repeat this procedure several times to firm the skin and reduce cellulite.

2. Bioactive collagen peptides

Bioactive collagen peptides are dietary supplements. These supplements, when taken with food, have been shown to help reduce cellulite.
Some studies show that collagen peptide supplements can have a stimulating effect on dermal cell metabolism. This means that it can reduce the amount of cellulite and restore the dermal structure of your skin. However, more research is needed to determine if bioactive collagen peptides can reduce cellulite.

3. Self-tanners

The appearance of cellulite can be significantly reduced by using self-tanners. These are affordable and known to make cellulite less visible (especially in darker skin tones). For best results, use an exfoliant on problem areas first. Then apply a self-tanner.

4. Ground coffee

Coffee contains caffeine. Studies show that caffeine has a stimulatory effect on lipolysis, possibly helping to reduce cellulite.
You will need
2-3 spoons of coffee grounds
Carrier oil
What you need to do
Mix the coffee grounds with the carrier oil.
Apply this paste on problem areas of the skin. Massage in circular motions.
After 10 minutes, rinse with warm water.
How often should you do this?
You can repeat this process at least 3 times a week.

5. Aloe Vera

It is a rich source of bioactive compounds that can treat skin problems. Aloe vera extracts may aid in collagen synthesis. This helps to firm the skin and can reduce cellulite.
You will need
2-3 tablespoons of aloe vera gel
What you need to do is take some aloe vera gel and gently massage it into the problem area in circular motions and repeat it at least 3 times a week.

Treatment options
You can choose from several treatment options to reduce cellulite. These are:

Acoustic wave therapy

This is a treatment option that involves several sessions using sound waves to eliminate cellulite.

Laser treatment

This treatment involves using a laser to break up excess fatty tissue, reducing cellulite.

Subcision

This is an invasive treatment that requires a doctor to insert a needle into your skin to break up the connective tissue that causes cellulite.

Precise tissue release

This is a vacuum-assisted procedure that involves cutting the connecting strips using a series of small blades. This process can take more than a year.
Here are some exercises that can help reduce cellulite.

Squats

Begin this exercise by standing straight with your feet slightly apart. Keep the rest of your body relaxed and raise your arms in front of you. Now squat down (your posture should resemble a semi-sitting position). Hold this pose for 2 minutes. You can start with 10 reps and slowly increase to 2-3 sets of 10 reps.

Jumping squats

This is a variation of the previous exercise. Take the starting position for the squat. Keeping your arms at your sides, jump and land in a squat position. Hold this pose for 30 seconds. You can do 10 reps at first and then slowly increase it by doing 2 sets of 10 reps.
Cellulite is most noticeable as dimples on the thighs and buttocks and occurs when fat deposits under the skin push against the connective tissues present. Various factors such as age, weight gain, estrogen levels and collagen loss contribute to the development of cellulite.
